[Mich VHF UHF Society] June vhf party get-out-of-the-house plans?

With our esteemed governor making more proclamations and extending the stay
at home decrees (yes, I have my opinion about her but that's not for here
😉 ), I have this idea that just might get around those decrees.

What about those that want to go out and be rovers and those that just need
to get out, how about starting a rest area (rest stop) activation party
within the state?

The state parks are open so I looked at the mdot site to see what rest
areas were open and only one showed as closed, that being out in Chelsea on
east bound I94. If Chelsea was open, you could activate two grids from
there.

This would give those of us as rovers the chance to operate from different
grids plus still social distance and those who just need to get out that
chance also.

Same basic rules as the June vhf contest except that along with grid square
in the exchange, you also give out the name of the rest area (or state
park) with it. If said site was in two different grids, you get extra
points for activating the same site , i.e. Chelsea would count twice, once
for each grid. Just show it in your logs with site name and grid square.

One other thing, you could activate city or county parks and rest areas if
you wanted. Same basis. Name of city/county along with name of site.

This is a suggested extension of the contest for Michigan operators just to
get operators the chance to get out and about instead of being cooped up.

I'll lay out my planned route next weekend. Thinking i75 north towrds
gaylord and the west to lake michigan and then bouncing between grids on
the lake coast.

Remember, there are 14 grids that can be worked in just the lower portion
and 9(or 10?) grids in the U.P. along with all those rest areas along the
roads.

If your interested, announce your plans here and then pass those modified
logs afterwards to me and I'll look at them and then send a message out to
the list with results. I won't be sending out any awards, plaques, or
trinkets for this.
