[Mich VHF UHF Society] January VHF

Due to rove vehicle issues, I am almost certainly going to operate from home (EN82hk) for this round. In between visits to autotrader and craigslist. :P

I purchased one of the Ukranian 222 transverters myself, and have found it to be worth the money... the LO frequency is a bit off, but it does not drift very much so as long as you are good at decimal math, no problem. There are "cheapyagi" designs published for 222, or worst-case you can find a 2m mag-mount whip base built to accept replacement whips, and just cut down a spare piece of antenna for the right wavelength.

Here's a related question. Let's say I'm running, I don't know, an FM-only station for the contest, and I want to hand out a free QRP sideband QSO on 222 with my transverter even though I won't count it toward my score. Is this allowed? Or is it necessary to log ALL contacts and therefore necessary to strictly adhere to your desired contest plan all weekend? Or else if allowed, how (if at all) would it be logged, to enable the other person to claim credit? Just don't count it in your score?

Good luck, everyone! Unfortunately I have a hard time with NW/W/SW from here due to the "Brighton ridge" (I'm sure it's called something else by geologists). But I will look forward to finding many of you on the air!
