Mike,

Six things not specified / clear (to me) in the rules (BTW - nice job on them).

1. There should be a line regarding that only contacts made after 1 Jan 17 count toward the GMA. Suggested rewrite of Award Rules #1 - "Only contacts dated 1 Jan 17 or later, on bands 50MHz and above are eligible for the GMA."

2. Do the contacts have to be made with stations located in Michigan or, as with the Fred Fish Memorial Award, do they only have to be within one of the 24 grids? I ask this because of grids EN67 and EN86. Suggested new Award Rule - "All contacts in the 24 grids specified in rule 6.b. must (not) be made with stations physically located in Michigan."

3. I believe that EME is implied in Award Rules #2 when it talks about natural satellites, but as a former Infantryman I often need things spelled out for me. Suggest adding another sentence on this rule - "EME and MS are examples of using natural satellites."

4. For the rover version of the GMA is it acceptable to work anyone from the grid, or do you have to work someone in the grid that you in? Again goes to the two small land area grids.

5. Will you accept LoTW verification for the contacts? If you go into LoTW and select "Your QSOs" and then "details", you can get an electronic "QSL card". Screen shoot it and send it in?

6. Award Rule #6.a. states "Confirmation requires both operators submit entries." Do you really expect 25 logs to confirm each award?

Again, nice job on the rules. The misunderstandings are clearly my fault - did I mention that I was once an Infantryman?

With the first VHF+ contest of the year quickly approaching, I respectfully submit the revised (thanks David D. for the draft feedback) Golden Mitten Award rules for comment. I also hereby declare the rules close enough to begin use as any further revision should not impact the intent of the award, its endorsements or achievements. Retroactively, log contacts beginning 01-JAN-2017 and forward will be accepted for consideration.

Good luck and happy grid hunting!

For discussion this weekend, I respectfully submit the first draft of the Golden Mitten Award rules. As long as the list allows attachments, there should be a PDF attached. Some items will look familiar as they come from the ARRL general guidelines. Other items were used with permission from the Northeast Ohio club. The rest is just made up but sounded good at the time ;)

If the attachment is not allowed then I will resubmit this email with the rules embedded. Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend!
