Hi all!I am currently set up for 144 and 432 SSB and CW using a small loop antenna on the rooftop (ele is 1000' here). I plan on stacking two loops to give me better omnidirectional gain and putting them on my 55' tower but need to find some 1/2" Heliax for a 100' run. Since I am currently available to use 144Mhz I was wondering id there is an "activity" night for this band. When I have turned on the rig to 144.20-144.50 I have heard no activity at all. Match is 1.2:1 and sometimes I can hear beacons so I know all is working. I am running about 150w out. Located a few miles East 96 and 23 junction. Hope to hear someone soon.-Tom (WB8IIA)

 Hi Dave and the group,
At last year's meeting during Spark in the Park, 2015 I volunteered to put together the rules for the "Golden Mitten" award.  I should have something published shortly for the club to discuss before making it official.  Someone during the meeting had mentioned an Ohio club doing something similar.  I have since contacted that club and will be using some of what they have to adapt to our use here in MI.  While they have concentrated on 2M FM only, they have had great success getting individuals and clubs involved and activating grids.
On a side note, I would also be interested in those amplifiers Tom and hope you can obtain a few for club members.

Tom,

I think the "Golden Mitten" award is a great idea.  There should be a page on the MIVUS web site describing the award with an official list of the 24 grids and how to apply.  If somebody would work out the details of how to administer the award, maybe I could craft a web page.
