First, I got looking at the CQWW VHF website (and a good look at the rules):<br>

Then, I started poking around the "scores database" at:<br>

I noticed that in our region, that are some entry categories that either<br>
have no entries ever or very few. So I started pulling data by state and<br>
focused on WI, IL, MN, IA, SD, ND, and MB. I took the data and put it into<br>
some excel spreadsheets and started sorting. Next thing I know, I've got a<br>
bunch of interesting state records for those seven states (or provinces) and<br>
some listing of all-time participants. I put all the sorted data on the web<br>
at: <a href="https://w9fz.com/cqwwvhf/" rel="noreferrer noreferrer" target="_blank">https://w9fz.com/cqwwvhf/</a> <br>

If you look at some of the .pdfs or tables of data, I hope you'll see some<br>
of the categories that have been light on participation and consider<br>
entering in one of those categories. You very well may end up in the "top<br>
ten" records for that state and category!<br>

Club Competition! There is NO 175-mile circle for this CQWW contest! If<br>
you are an NLRS member, make sure you list (spell out) Northern Lights Radio<br>
Society as your club in your Cabrillo log. CQWW also does not screen your<br>
log against any "club eligibility" list. <br>
<br>
A reminder for FT8: The contest exchange is "grid square" not a numeric<br>
signal report. So at contest time, set up your wsjt-x software to "contest<br>
mode" by going to Settings > Advanced > check the "Advanced features"<br>
checkbox and make sure "NA VHF Contest" is selected.<br>
<br>
Please remember to look at, and list yourself, on the W0UC Upper Midwest<br>

"Fixed" and "Rover". <br>

While FT-8 may be easier, I hope you'll check all the traditional SSB/CW<br>
frequencies. Hopefully you'll find enough non-digital rover and fixed<br>
stations to make it worth your while to tune and spin your beam. Rovers<br>
can't call you on the phone to get your attention (on account of the rules<br>
for this contest). The rovers will be out there--you have to find them!<br>
<br>
I'm sending this promotion email to the NLRS and Badger Contesters email<br>
reflectors. I also sent out about 350 emails to callsigns from our region<br>
who participated in the CQWW VHF in the past. If conditions don't open up,<br>
make a point to listen for the weak ones from within our region.<br>
