As you may have heard, Michigan is going to have a large annual hamfest which
will take place at Michigan International Speedway (MIS). The inaugural event
will happen on October 7 & 8, 2017. Our goal is to turn this event into a
world class ham radio convention destination located in the renowned Irish
Hills. The Great Lakes HamCon is sponsored by the Great Lakes Amateur Radio
Association. <br>

MIS is a huge, modern facility that will be unique in the hamfest world. The
event will take place in the infield of the 2 mile track. There is a very large
paved area in and near the pit road. There are three 7500 sq ft buildings that
will house commercial vendors and plans are to utilize the very wide pit road
for the flea market (selling spaces to each side with a wide walkway down the
center of pit road). In addition, there will be plenty of paved area in the
infield for more flea market space. <br>
<br>
MIS has a number of world class meeting rooms along pit road that are very well
suited for meetings and get-togethers. Some meeting areas have complete A/V
capability. While there will be many forums, there will still be adequate room
for net and other organizational meetings. In addition booth space for your
organization will be available. <br>
<br>
Michigan nets and other ham radio organizations are urged to contact us early
to reserve your spot. There will be many hams that are going to attend this
event and it is a perfect opportunity to assemble your group for a meeting. <br>
