I ran JT65b with K9MRI and K9ZF last
year. Of course Joe was extremely loud here, but Dan was a bit of
a challenge. I think that I need to tear into my IC-746 and
insulate the oscillator crystal like N0UK recommends. Whenever
the rig goes into transmit, the fan comes on and cools down the
crystal, shifting the frequency a bit. OK for normal use, but not
good for JT65 on 144 MHz.
Paul Whatton in the JT65b-FSK441 Facebook group recommends a
polystyrene insulator cut for the crystal can inside dimension
along with a crystal heater. A bit more than I want to do.
