The single feed Direct TV dish can be used on a lot of bands by just changing the feed horn.  Most the guys on 10 GHz are using them, but they are also good antennas for 5.7 GHz and 24, and I think some people have used them at 2304 and 3456.
W1GHZ also sells boards for xverters on other bands too, so look around his web site.

I have an FT-817 to use as a 144 MHz IF, but no transverters/converters for anything above 70 cm (and those are Elecraft ones for my K3s).
Wonder what it would take to get on those two bands, that wouldn't break the bank?  Maybe for 5 GHz, convert some old WiFi equipment?
I also have an old circular offset-fed single LNA DirectTV dish.  Wonder if that would help with putting together a portable antenna/tripod combo?
Consider me a newbie at this, but I'm curious enough to learn and try some stuff.  I know which end of a soldering iron to pick up, and have done a number of kits over the years.  I've even added an SMD hot air station to my workbench arsenal recently.
Don't have test equipment that goes over 1.5 GHz (SA) to 2.4 GHz (VNA), though.

Hello all,
As I'm sure many of you have heard, there is a proposal before the FCC to remove the amateur band at 9 cm (3456 MHz) and use it for "5G".  So if any of you would like to try and get a VUCC award on that band you may want to start building!  Remember, you only need to work five grid squares for VUCC on 3456 or any of the bands above that.
I don't currently have a working station for 3456, but still have the parts from my old station that I did get VUCC with many years ago, and I could put it back on the air at least as a portable station.  I may even have enough parts laying around to build another QRP station for the band.  I believe there are at least a couple of other people around here with working stations on that band.
I've talked to Bob WA8VPD about trying to get a VUCC award on 5760, and he seems to think we could do that from "garbage pit hill" (Lyon Township Park, now called James F. Atchison Memorial Park, EN82EM, just off I-96).  So one of my goals for this winter is to get a station working on 5760 MHz so I'm ready in the spring to give it a try.  If anybody wanted to try for VUCC on 3456 we could try that band at the same time.
So anybody interested in either band?
