So if any of you would like to try and get a VUCC award on that band you may want to start building!? Remember, you only need to work five grid squares for VUCC on 3456 or any of the bands above that. I don't currently have a working station for 3456, but still have the parts from my old station that I did get VUCC with many years ago, and I could put it back on the air at least as a portable station.? I may even have enough parts laying around to build another QRP station for the band.? I believe there are at least a couple of other people around here with working stations on that band. I've talked to Bob WA8VPD about trying to get a VUCC award on 5760, and he seems to think we could do that from "garbage pit hill" (Lyon Township Park, now called James F. Atchison Memorial Park,?EN82EM, just off I-96).? So one of my goals for this winter is to get a station working on 5760 MHz so I'm ready in the spring to give it a try.? If anybody wanted to try for VUCC on 3456 we could try that band at the same time. So anybody interested in either band? 73,??Mark? It uses pipe cap filters for tuning, but we can help you with that. http://www.w1ghz.org/MBT/A_Simple_Low-cost_5760_MHz_Transverter_for_the_Rover.pdf The single feed Direct TV dish can be used on a lot of bands by just changing the feed horn.? Most the guys on 10 GHz are using them, but they are also good antennas for 5.7 GHz and 24, and I think some people have used them at 2304 and 3456. W1GHZ also sells boards for xverters on other bands too, so look around his web site. I'll try and reply more later. 73,Mark? WB8TGY?? Sounds like he has loop yagies for the lower bands, we may have to come up with an antenna for 5760. Besides the W1GHZ xverter boards both DownEast Microwave and Kuhne Electronics sell new transverters, but both nice units but not cheap... You can also look on Ebay for double balanced mixers and amplifiers to build a station with surplus parts. I'll try and send you a direct email soon and see what you would like to try and what band. If your going to start building, you may want to look at W1GHZ's 1296 xverter as I don't think that needs any tuning, but I'm not sure. It's been a long time since I looked has his boards, but they are about the cheapest way to get on a microwave band. 73, Mark WB8TGY On Thursday, December 5, 2019, 5:06:10 PM EST, Dave New, N8SBE wrote: Mark, I have an FT-817 to use as a 144 MHz IF, but no transverters/converters for anything above 70 cm (and those are Elecraft ones for my K3s).
