James,

If you want a Lake Michigan beach area with various altitudes, you might
try the North Shore beach just west of Ferrysburg. Next to the beach and
park area, there is an access road that is about 30 feet higher than the
lake. Then a little farther back from the beach is a walkway that takes
you up to the top of a large dune, about 150 feet higher yet. The peak
on this trail is at 754 feet elevation. The North Shore Park does charge
a car access fee from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
